Representative Duties

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide library services through on-ground, via on-line, and through other forms of technology.
  • Provide input and advice to the supervising Dean regarding library operations and services to ensure student needs are met.
  • Analyze reference and information inquiries from students, faculty, staff, and the community, and research reference and information sources, both print and electronic.
  • Manage, coordinate, and participate in library instruction, including group tours, demonstrations and workshops.
  • Analyze the library collection and determine priorities for collection development in coordination with other librarians and library staff.
  • Serve on college-wide committees.
  • Communicate effectively and work cooperatively with others in a team environment.
  • Attend and actively contribute to meetings or activities pertinent to faculty responsibilities or assignments including but not limited to department meetings, advisory committee meetings, and academic senate.
  • Maintain currency in subject matter and developments in the field.
  • Sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.


Minimum Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Master's in library science, library and information science,

OR the equivalent.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Community college librarian experience.
  • Experience with designing and maintaining a web page.
  • Experience in using current technology as a reference tool.
  • Experience with online and other distance learning library services
